Tinkera provides structural steel fabrication, metal manufacturing and custom design for builders, businesses and farmers across the Northern Rivers — Ballina, Byron Shire, Lismore and surrounds. With an in-house CAD designer and a team of experienced fabricators, we take jobs from drawing to finished steel under one roof.
We’ve spent years designing and building our own equipment range in galvanised steel — mobile coops, feeder trailers, water systems, all fabricated in our workshop. That same team, gear and know-how is available for design through to manufacturing.
What we do
Product development
Got an idea for a product but no way to build it? We design with 3D CAD modelling and 2D CAD drawings, prototype in the workshop, refine it until it works and then manufacture it.
Structural steel design & fabrication
Bring us drawings, a photo or a sketch on the back of an envelope. We'll work it out or can fabricate to your engineer's drawings.
Metal manufacturing
Repeat runs and production work — components, assemblies and fittings manufactured to spec, consistent from the first unit to the last. If you need fifty of something, not one, this is where we're set up to help.
Design and fabrication under one roof
Most fabrication shops build what they’re given. We can do that — send us your engineer’s or architect’s drawings and we’ll fabricate to them. But with a CAD designer in-house, we can also start earlier: measure up, design the job, flag problems before they’re welded in and hand you drawings you can keep.
It also means changes get sorted between the designer and the fabricator on the same floor — not over three weeks of email.

What areas do you service for steel fabrication?
We service the Northern Rivers region of NSW — Ballina, Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Bangalow, Lennox Head, Lismore, Alstonville and surrounding areas. Larger jobs outside the region are worth a conversation.
Can you fabricate from my engineer's or architect's drawings?
Yes. Send drawings through the enquiry form (PDF, DWG or photos) and Oliver will give you a call to talk it through.
Can you design something from scratch?
Yes. We have a CAD designer in-house, so we can take a job from a rough idea or sketch through to working drawings and finished steel — design and fabrication in the same workshop.
Do you take on small one-off jobs?
Yes. One-off brackets, frames, gates and repairs sit alongside larger structural and manufacturing work. No job is too odd — odd jobs are usually the interesting ones.
What materials do you work with?
Mild steel, galvanised steel, stainless steel and aluminium. If your job calls for something else, ask — send it through the enquiry form and we'll let you know.
